Project Description

_Villa Engelfred

It is humorous that Engelfred Villa, such a sumptuous villa, in antiquity was called, according to the Piedmontese tradition, a

“rural vineyard”. But that’s how it was perceived for its aristocratic owners who went there to get away from the chaos of the city and enjoy a bit of tranquility in front of the Isabella Bridge at the base of the Turin hill.

Erected in 1780, the Engelfred Villa was then enlarged in the early 1900s with the addition of two square-plan extensions at the south-east and south-west corners of the originally rectangular central plan.

White marble and walls rich in finishes and inlays show the aristocratic aspect of the environment of Engelfred Villa in all their magnificence. The eighteenth century is enclosed within these walls in its most aristocratic representation, full of period portraits, furnishings and chandeliers that constitute the precise pieces for a total immersion into that era.The large hall, also redesigned during the expansion of the 1900s, divides the various apartments of the villa and introduces guests to its many beauties. The internal spaces are as rich as the external ones, where a large park surrounds the structure as a whole with its centuries-old plants and countless varieties of roses.
